Halloween Software Deals vs Black Friday: What to Buy Now
Halloween software deals come at an awkward time of the year. A plugin license is due in November, a client wants hosting before December, your email tool is close to its contact limit – and right then every vendor puts a pumpkin and a percentage on its homepage. Black Friday is just 5 weeks away, so the question is a simple one: is this October price the best one of the year, or only a warm-up?
Getting it wrong costs money in both directions. Buy a plugin at Halloween and watch it drop another 30% on Black Friday, and you have paid the difference for nothing. Wait for Black Friday on a vendor that already gave its best price in October, and you pay more for the same license after a month without the tool.
The good part is that most vendors repeat what they did last year. So the way out is to ignore the banner and check what the vendor did last October and last November. When I sorted more than 30 WordPress companies for my WordPress Halloween deals list, they fell into four clear groups, and once you know a vendor’s group the decision takes a minute:
- Buy in October from vendors that run a real Halloween sale and vendors whose Black Friday price starts before October 31.
- Buy whenever you need it from vendors whose “Halloween deal” is the same first-year discount they run all year.
- Wait for late November for vendors that keep their discount for Black Friday, but only when the purchase can wait.

Is Halloween or Black Friday Better for Software Deals?
Black Friday is still the bigger sale for most software companies. The deepest cuts, the lifetime deals and the bundle prices usually land between the last week of November and the first days of December. Halloween wins only for a small set of vendors, and those are worth knowing by name.
For many others, Halloween is now the start of Black Friday. A few companies have moved their Black Friday start date into October, so the last week of October already gets the November price:
- Hostinger has made it official this year: its Black Friday sale runs from October 19 to December 14, with hosting up to 80% off.
- Rank Math opened its yearly sale on October 29 last year and ran it until December 3.
- ScalaHosting started its Black Friday promo on October 30 last year.
A buyer in the last week of October paid the same as a buyer on Cyber Monday. So the useful comparison is per vendor, and “Halloween vs Black Friday” as a general rule says very little about the tool on your list.
How Software Vendors Price in October
I find it easiest to put every vendor into one of four groups before looking at a single percentage. The table uses WordPress and SaaS companies whose last-year dates are on record, from my WordPress list and my SaaS Halloween deals list.
| Group | Vendors | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A real Halloween sale | WP Rocket, Fluent Forms and FluentCRM, Averta (Depicter, Phlox), WholesaleX, Cloudways | Buy in the last two weeks of October |
| Black Friday pricing that starts before Halloween | Hostinger, Rank Math, ScalaHosting | Buy in the last week of October |
| The same discount all year | WPForms, AIOSEO, SureForms, Astra and Spectra, FluentCart, Rocket.net | Buy when you need it |
| Black Friday only | Perfmatters, FlyingPress, Gravity Forms, Kadence, Blocksy, Elementor, Kinsta, xCloud, Brevo, GetResponse | Wait for late November if the purchase can wait |
The groups shift a little every year, so check last year’s dates for the 1 or 2 vendors you care about. A vendor that ran nothing at Halloween for 2 years in a row is unlikely to surprise you in the third.
Software Deals to Buy at Halloween
These are the vendors where October is the right month. Some give a deeper discount at Halloween than at Black Friday and others give the same price earlier.
- WP Rocket took 25% off for Halloween last year, running until November 5, and its coupons page lists a Halloween campaign at the end of October every year. That brings 1 site to about $45. You can check the current price on WP Rocket.
- Fluent Forms and FluentCRM come from WPManageNinja, which ran 40% off yearly plans and 30% off lifetime from October 15 to November 3 last year. At 40%, FluentCRM for 1 site comes to about $77. This year’s sale is announced on WPManageNinja’s site but hadn’t started on October 15.
- Depicter by Averta is up to 70% off from October 19 to November 2 this year, more than double last year’s 30%. Phlox Pro, from the same company, sells for $29 once in that window.
- Hostinger is already on its Black Friday pricing from October 19. The low monthly rate needs 48 months paid upfront, so compare the amount you pay today with the renewal before you pick a term.
- Rank Math is the one to buy in Halloween week. Its sale opened on October 29 last year, and waiting for Black Friday got you nothing extra.
My own plugins are on this list too. The six paid WordPress plugins I build, Core Forms among them, are 35% off with code HALLOWEEN from October 20 to November 2. Every plan and final price is on the WordPress deals page linked above, and if you’re choosing a form plugin this month, my list of WordPress form plugin Halloween deals sorts 13 of them the same way.
If one of these vendors is on your list, buy in the last two weeks of October. These sales are dated and announced, and November has no deeper price on record for them.
Software Deals Worth Waiting For
These vendors keep their discount for late November. In October you see their regular price or a small coupon that works all year:
- Perfmatters had no Halloween sale last year and took 30% off at Black Friday, from November 16 to December 2. Its 10% code works all year.
- FlyingPress took 30% off every plan from November 26 to December 2.
- Gravity Forms sold the Elite license for the Pro price of $159 from November 24, against its regular $259.
- Kadence took 30% off new plans from November 18, Blocksy went up to 40% off and Elementor up to 20% off from November 25.
- xCloud brought back its lifetime control panel deal on November 25.
- Brevo, GetResponse, ProWritingAid and Krisp have a Black Friday sale on record and nothing at Halloween.
Waiting has a price too. Perfmatters plans start at $29.95 a year, so the gap between its everyday 10% and the Black Friday 30% is about $6. If a client site is slow today, saving $6 is not worth 5 more weeks of a slow site. Waiting makes sense when the gap is large, like $100 on a Gravity Forms Elite license, or when you don’t need the tool before December anyway.
Discounts That Run All Year
A Halloween banner on these products doesn’t change the price. You would get the same discount in March:
- WPForms takes 50% off the first year all year, so Basic is $49.50 and renews at $99. Black Friday went up to 70% last year, so Pro and Elite buyers should wait.
- AIOSEO takes 50% off the first year on every plan, all year. Black Friday went to about 65%.
- SureForms sells Solo at $59 for the first year and $69 after that, year round.
- Astra and Spectra run up to 40% off the first year as their everyday price.
- FluentCart has had its $249 Earlybird lifetime license on the page for about a year.
- InVideo, Krisp and ProWritingAid show “50% off” badges that only compare yearly billing with monthly billing.
None of these are bad prices. A 50% first-year discount is still 50% off, and you can take it the week you actually need the tool. The mistake is waiting for Halloween to get it, or buying in a hurry because a countdown timer says the price ends tonight.
How Agencies Should Judge a Halloween Deal
Buying for an agency is different from buying for one blog, because the license ends up on client sites and the renewal ends up on a client invoice. Before you pay for any Halloween software deal, I’d check four things:
- The renewal price. Hostinger’s Premium plan is $2.99 a month on a 48-month term and renews at $10.99. Fluent Forms Pro renews at $79 a year for 1 site, whatever discount you got on the first payment. The renewal is the number you’ll quote the client in year 2.
- Client-site rights. Rank Math PRO covers unlimited personal sites but not client sites, so an agency needs a higher tier. A cheap license that doesn’t cover client work ends in an upgrade before the first client launch.
- Whether the discount is new. If the pricing page showed the same number in April, it isn’t a Halloween deal. A Wayback Machine snapshot settles this in 2 minutes.
- The cost of waiting. Put a rough number on a month without the tool, in your hours or in a client’s patience, and compare it with the Black Friday gap.
Lifetime deals need extra care on an agency stack. A lifetime license ties every client build to a vendor you’ve already paid, and the economics of lifetime deals explain why some of those vendors slow down on updates a few years later. Kadence shows the other risk: after Liquid Web retired the StellarWP brand this year, the lifetime and unlimited-site plans disappeared from its pricing page.
Plan Your Purchases Before October 20
This is what I’d do this week. Open a note, list every tool you’ll pay for before the end of December and write the vendor’s group next to each one. It takes a few minutes and it gives you your buying dates: the real Halloween sales and early Black Friday prices in the last week of October, the Black Friday-only vendors in the last week of November and the year-round discounts whenever the work needs them.
I keep both deal lists updated as vendors announce their 2026 offers, and the Halloween deals page has every current code in one place. When November comes, my Black Friday deals page takes over.
One last rule before you pay for anything. If you wouldn’t buy the tool at full price in March, the Halloween price only gets you a new bill with a nicer first month.
FAQs on Halloween Software Deals
Usually not. Most Halloween coupons cover the first payment or the first term, and the subscription renews at the regular price. WPForms Basic, for example, costs $49.50 in the first year and $99 after that. Check the renewal line on the checkout page before you pay.
The earliest ones start in mid-October. WPManageNinja started its Halloween sale on October 15 last year, Hostinger’s Black Friday pricing starts on October 19 this year, and Depicter and Phlox run from October 19 to November 2. Most Halloween sales end on October 31 or in the first days of November.
Only from a vendor whose product you already use and whose business you expect to last. A lifetime license is paid once, so the vendor funds your updates and support from new sales, and that model doesn’t suit every company.
For most software, no. Black Friday usually brings the deeper discount. The exceptions are vendors that run a real Halloween sale, such as WP Rocket and WPManageNinja, and vendors whose Black Friday pricing starts in October, such as Hostinger and Rank Math.
