Black Friday Email Subject Lines
What makes someone open a Black Friday email when dozens of other brands landed in the same inbox that morning, and should the subject line show the discount or hide it? Those are the two questions behind every list of Black Friday email subject lines, and the answer changes with the email’s job.
A teaser email needs curiosity, a launch email needs the offer and a last-call email needs the deadline. Using a launch-style line on every email is why most Black Friday sequences fade after the second send.
So we’ve grouped the subject lines below by the job each email does. Swap the bracketed parts for your own product, discount and dates, and pair each line with preview text that adds a detail instead of repeating it.
What Makes a Black Friday Subject Line Work
These are the rules we’d check every line against before it goes out:
- The useful part first. Mobile inboxes cut subject lines off around 35 to 45 characters, so the offer or the deadline goes first.
- Real numbers. “40% off yearly plans” tells the reader more than “huge savings”.
- Preview text that adds something. If the subject says the discount, the preview can say when it ends.
- Honest wording. The CAN-SPAM Act bans subject lines that mislead the reader about the message, so fake “Re:” or “Your order” lines are out.
Early Access and Teaser Subject Lines
These go out in the first half of November to build a list of people who want the offer first.
- Want our Black Friday price before everyone else?
- Our Black Friday sale opens November 7, 2026. Want in early?
- [First name], you’re invited to the early list
- Black Friday starts early for our list
- One click to get our Black Friday link first
- Something’s coming on November 7, 2026
Sale Launch Subject Lines
On the day the sale opens, the subject line should state the offer plainly.
- [Product] is [40%] off until November 7, 2026
- Our Black Friday sale is live
- [40%] off every yearly plan, no code needed
- The lowest price we’ll charge this year
- Black Friday: [Product] for [$X]
- It’s here: [40%] off [Product]
Subject Lines for SaaS and Software
Software buyers want to know what they’ll pay after year one, so the honest renewal angle works well here.
- [40%] off year one, and here’s what it renews at
- Switch to yearly billing for [40%] less
- Lifetime license, this week only
- Your [Product] upgrade, at the Black Friday price
- The [Product] plan for [10] sites, now [$X]
- Black Friday pricing for teams of [5] or more
Subject Lines for Stores
For a WooCommerce or Shopify store, products and shipping beat percentages.
- Our Black Friday picks, up to [30%] off
- [6] products we’d buy first this week
- Free shipping on everything until November 7, 2026
- Gifts under [$50], all on sale
- Back in stock and [20%] off
- Your cart is still waiting, now [20%] off
Subject Lines for Agencies and Services
Services sell slots and outcomes, not percentages, so the line should name what the client gets.

- Fix your site in December, at a Black Friday price
- A fixed-price [SEO audit], booked by November 7, 2026
- Our Black Friday offer for [industry] sites

Reminder Subject Lines
A reminder works best when it answers a question or adds a fact, instead of repeating the launch.
- Your question about [Product], answered
- 48 hours left on our Black Friday price
- Still deciding? Here’s what changes on November 7, 2026
- The one thing people ask before buying [Product]
- Halfway through our Black Friday sale
Last-Call Subject Lines
The last email of the sale needs the deadline and nothing else.
- Ends tonight at [time]
- Last call: [40%] off ends at midnight
- [3] hours left
- Final hours of our Black Friday sale
- Tomorrow, [Product] goes back to [$X]
Cyber Monday Subject Lines
Only use these if you really run a Cyber Monday offer, and say whether it’s an extension or a new deal.
- We kept the sale open through Cyber Monday
- Cyber Monday: one more day at [40%] off
- New for Cyber Monday: [offer]
- Missed Black Friday? You have until [time]
- The Cyber Monday price ends tonight
Subject Lines for Existing Customers
Your current customers shouldn’t get the same subject line as a cold list.
- A Black Friday upgrade, just for customers
- Thanks for being with us. Here’s [offer]
- Your renewal, at the Black Friday price
- Add [feature] to your plan for [$X]
When Something Goes Wrong
Broken links and wrong prices happen during busy weeks. A short, honest correction keeps trust.
- Oops, here’s the right link
- Correction: the sale ends November 7, 2026, not November 7, 2026
- Sorry about that. The code is [CODE]
Subject Lines to Avoid
- ALL CAPS and stacked exclamation marks. They look like spam to readers and to filters.
- Fake replies and fake orders. “Re:” or “Your order” on a sales email is misleading under CAN-SPAM.
- The same line on every email. Subscribers stop opening once they’ve seen it twice.
- A discount you can’t honor. If “up to 70%” applies to one product, say “up to” and mean it.
FAQs on Black Friday Email Subject Lines
How long should a Black Friday subject line be?
Short enough that the important part shows on a phone, which cuts off around 35 to 45 characters. Put the offer or the deadline in the first few words.
Should I put the discount in the subject line?
On launch and last-call emails, yes. On a teaser email, curiosity or an invitation works better, because there’s no offer to show yet.
Can I use emojis in Black Friday subject lines?
One emoji is fine if it fits your brand. It shouldn’t replace the words, and some inboxes show emojis differently.
Final Remarks
If you’re writing these in a hurry, we’d write 3 lines for each email and pick the one a busy reader would understand in 2 seconds. Clever lines lose to clear ones in a crowded inbox.
The full emails behind these lines, from the early access message to the post-purchase welcome, are in our Black Friday email templates.
