Alpha Chat Free AI Chatbot for WordPress

Help visitors ask questions about your content.

Alpha Chat is an AI chatbot for WordPress that searches indexed site content and uses relevant passages when answering a visitor. You choose the chat and embedding providers, manage the knowledge base in WordPress, and place the interface where it helps the reader.

It is most useful when your site already contains good answers that visitors struggle to find. The starting point is a small set of clear, current pages. Adding a chatbot to contradictory or outdated content simply gives those problems another way to reach a customer.

What Alpha Chat Does

Choose the capabilities that support your actual workflow. Each has a different job to do.

A WordPress Knowledge Base

Index posts, pages, and public custom post types, then add curated Q&A for recurring questions. Content chunks and vectors use the WordPress database by default. You do not need a separate hosted vector database just to begin.

Independent Provider Choices

Chat replies and embeddings have separate settings. Choose the provider suited to each job using your own API accounts. This separates the process of finding useful content from the process of writing an answer, while keeping both costs visible in your planning.

Placement and Human Follow-Up

Use a block, shortcode, or opt-in floating launcher. Shadow DOM isolates the widget from most theme CSS. The optional contact form stores a visitor message and emails the administrator when a conversation needs a person.

A Closer Look

Inside the Product

A Product Documentation Assistant

Practical Example

Imagine a plugin site with installation instructions, licensing information, and troubleshooting pages. Index the pages that answer those questions first. Add a curated answer where the wording matters, such as the distinction between a software license and a paid external service.

Ask about installation, compatibility, and a feature the product does not support. Check whether the reply points to the right source and whether it admits the limit. A plausible answer to an unsupported question is a reason to refine the content and configuration, not evidence that the product gained a capability.

Place the assistant near the documentation or on the product page after that review. Keep a visible route to contact a person. Conversation records can help identify repeated questions that deserve a clearer permanent answer in the documentation itself.

The assistant becomes more useful when the underlying answers become clearer.

How to Get Started

Start with a staging copy and a representative task, then extend the setup once the complete path makes sense.

  1. Select Useful Content

Choose a limited set of public pages with current answers. Avoid indexing sensitive material just because it is available to an administrator.

  2. Configure Providers

Add chat and embedding API keys and choose suitable response settings. Budget for indexing as well as visitor replies.

  3. Build the Index

Process the content queue and inspect coverage. Correct missing or contradictory source pages before expanding the knowledge base.

  4. Place and Review

Add a block or shortcode, or enable the launcher deliberately. Review source cards, unexpected questions, and the optional contact route.

Before You Go Live

Use these checks for the parts of the workflow this product affects.

  • Keep provider billing separate from the free plugin cost.
  • Review data policies before sending content to an AI provider.
  • Check important policy and product answers against their sources.
  • Assign a recipient to contact submissions.

Is It Right for Your Site?

Consider the working requirements alongside the design or feature list.

When It Fits

Alpha Chat fits publishers, product sites, and documentation libraries that want conversational access to their existing public material. It gives site owners control of content, placement, and provider selection inside WordPress.

Know the Limits

The model can use general knowledge when context is thin, so replies are not guaranteed to stay within your pages or be correct. The contact route is email-based, not a staffed live-chat desk with agent routing. Database size, indexing time, and search work depend on hosting resources.

Requirements

Requires WordPress 6.5 or newer and PHP 8.2 or newer. You need your own supported provider accounts and keys. Site content goes to the embedding provider; questions and relevant context go to the chat provider.

Download and License Details

The plugin and its store update key are free. Obtain them through the Alpha Chat page on gauravtiwari.org. AI provider usage is billed separately, and your hosting continues to run the local index and conversation records.

Common Questions

A few remaining details before you choose the product.

Does all chatbot data stay on my server?

No. WordPress stores the default index and conversation history, but AI requests send relevant data to the chosen providers. Local storage and external processing are separate parts of the workflow.

Can I use different providers for replies and embeddings?

Yes. Those settings are independent. Choose a supported chat provider and a supported embedding provider, then review the cost and data policies of both.

Can I keep the chatbot off most pages?

Yes. Leave the floating launcher disabled and use specific block or shortcode placements. The launcher is an opt-in choice with device visibility controls.
